This month, Brighton College Vietnam launched an inspiring Prep Talk series, designed to diversify our learning activities and ignite our pupils’ passion for natural exploration. This series offered pupils rich learning experiences through sharing sessions with experts from various fields. These interactive sessions extended learning beyond the traditional classroom, encouraging pupils to broaden their knowledge, spark their curiosity, and cultivate a genuine passion for exploration and discovery.
Week 1: Piano and Bassoon Wonders
The series began with a journey into the world of music, featuring performances on the piano, bassoon, and cello, presented by esteemed guest artists. The rich melodies of the Piano and the unique timbre of the Bassoon sparked curiosity among the pupils, prompting them to ask intriguing questions about the artists’ musical journeys, their dedicated practice efforts, and the role of each instrument in an orchestra.
Week 2: Cello Magic Across Cultures
Continuing the series, the following week pupils were treated to a wonderful cello performance. Unlike the previous classical-focused performances, this instrument led pupils to a fusion of classical and modern music. The musician skillfully wove traditional Vietnamese melodies into the cello piece, creating a subtle and emotional combination. Additionally, our young learners explored various techniques and engaged in lively discussions about music interpretation.
At Brighton College Vietnam, we believe that fostering curiosity starts with making it engaging and interactive. These sessions, in addition to providing essential knowledge about music, also cultivated a deeper appreciation for cultural diversity and the richness of artistic expression. By incorporating classical knowledge and modern influences, these interactions inspired our pupils to explore and discover the boundless possibilities within the world of music.
