We are delighted to share the inspiring journey of our talented pupils, Phan Anh (Year 10) and Phuong Anh (Year 8) from Team SWITCH! Building on their impressive success at the VEX Robotics National Competition 2024, the duo has claimed the Excellence Award – the highest accolade – at the Battle in Bangkok VEX IQ MS Robotics Competition Signature Event. This outstanding achievement has secured them a place at the prestigious VEX World Championship 2025 in May!
“Phuong Anh and Phan Anh have applied their Design Technology knowledge to their Engineering Notebook, using skills like design thinking, sketching processes, and identifying essential materials,” shared their parents.
But their story goes beyond trophies and accolades; it is a testament to compassion, determination, and a commitment to creating opportunities for others. During their first VEX Robotics competition three years ago, Phan Anh and Phuong Anh encountered pupils from remote areas who relied on borrowed robots and makeshift practice setups. Deeply inspired by their resilience, they pledged to bridge the gap in STEM education, striving to empower disadvantaged pupils across Vietnam.
Through their initiative, they have partnered with organisations to sell products that support autistic children, using royalties to fund their mission. They’ve also channelled their prize money into meaningful projects that spark curiosity and enable STEM learning for underprivileged communities. Their efforts have already made a tangible difference – donating robotics kits and practice fields to schools in Cao Bang and Hoa Binh, mentoring pupils in Tu Ky, Hai Duong, and inspiring countless young innovators through workshops and interviews.
