Beyond Boundaries: Celebrating Personal Victories at Senior Sports Day

With an ethos of “Sports for All”, Brighton College Vietnam is always committed to fostering every pupils’ engagement in sport regardless of their perceived athletic skills or interest. With this philosophy in mind, we hosted our first ever Senior Sports Day – a splendid opportunity for our pupils to display their determination and grit as they battled valiantly to win points for their respective Houses.

Let’s relive the highlights, celebrate the triumphs of overcoming personal limits, and embrace the infectious energy of our Senior Sports Day — a day filled with laughter, cheers, and the undeniable warmth of school pride! Our Senior pupils gave it their all for their Houses, showcasing incredible enthusiasm, fierce competition, and great House camaraderie in an array of events: javelin throwing, tug of war, relay races, and individual races spanning 100m, 200m, 400m, and 600m.

Our Sports Days are just one piece of the action-packed series of House events we have lined up throughout the year. These exhilarating competitions aren’t just about having a blast — they’re golden opportunities to celebrate the beautiful tapestry of unity and diversity woven throughout our school community. With each House shining brightly in its own unique way, from the academic arena to the vibrant arts scene and the adrenaline-pumping world of sports, there’s a space for every single pupil to find their moment in the spotlight.

Our Deputy Head of the Senior School, Mr. Kirk Green, shared some heartwarming insights on our Senior Sports Day and the wonderful role sports play at Brighton College Vietnam:

“The competitive element of sports is important, but the real value is much deeper than simply winning. According to a recent international survey by Sports New Zealand:

  • 92% of people believe sport improves physical health and reduces stress.
  • 88% see it as a confidence-building opportunity.
  • 84% think it fosters a sense of belonging.
  • 74% believe it builds vibrant communities.

At Brighton College Vietnam, we fully concur with the findings above, which is why sport is such an important part of the School. You don’t have to be ‘sporty’ to benefit from reducing stress, building confidence, feeling a sense of belonging and being a member of a strong community.”
