Physical Theatre: The Allure of Wordless Expression

Physical Theatre: The Allure of Wordless Expression

Have you ever wondered if silence alone can truly capture hearts? In today’s Drama lesson, our Year 8 pupils explored the art of physical theatre, a form of performance where movement and body language speak louder than words. The combination of lighting and music guided their movements, helping them connect with their emotions. Through this dynamic combination of elements, our pupils honed their ability to communicate complex ideas without dialogue, relying instead on their physicality to evoke emotion and convey the message.

At Brighton College Vietnam, Drama is an integral part of our curriculum for all levels, not just a co-curriculum activity. The subject encourages our pupils to think critically and creatively, enhancing the confidence in communication, public speaking, and setting a strong foundation for those aspiring to a career in stage performance. During Key Stage 3, our pupils engage in dramatic performances and explore the cultural and historical contexts of various dramatic works.

Drama is more than just a subject – it is a foundation for pupils to develop communication skills, creativity, confidence, teamwork skills and broaden their understanding of history and culture., Mr. Rushton, Head of Drama, shared his insights.
