IBDP: Exploring Science for a Better Future
Our IB pupils recently took part in the IB Group 4 Collaborative Sciences Project, an interdisciplinary experience that challenged them to work together in investigating real-world issues connected to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
From climate change and biodiversity loss to clean water, health, sustainable cities, and responsible consumption, pupils explored how science can help us better understand and respond to global challenges facing our world today.
Working in teams, pupils took on different roles to research, design investigations, analyse evidence, and present their findings creatively and thoughtfully. Beyond scientific knowledge, the project strengthened essential IB learner skills, including collaboration, critical thinking, communication, creativity, and reflection.
Reflecting on the experience, Lucienne, Year 12, shared: “Because we can usually only study one subjet within the same science group, this collaborative project allowed us to learn more from other subjects as well, such as Physics and Biology.”
Most importantly, the experience encouraged our pupils to see science not only as a subject in the classroom but as a powerful tool for innovation, problem-solving, and positive change in the wider world.
