A different way of thinking: from concept to market | Tuesday, October 29th (2:30 – 3:15 PM)
In this modern day and age, we have grown accustomed to and simply accept some of the tools/processes/infrastructure that help us with our everyday lives. We have a tendency to accept things as they are without questioning if there is a better alternative way. Is a toothbrush the only way of brushing your teeth? Are traffic lights the only way of controlling traffic? In this workshop, we will ask pupils to question conventional methods and explore more efficient means of “getting things done”. Pupils will also be asked to consider the business issues on how we can bring new products to market and how to efficiently communicate the new design to different sectors of the community.
What does an arts manager do? Planning a music tour | Tuesday, October 29th (2:30 – 3:15 PM)
We love listening to music, watching movies and checking out various new media and art. But what about the people behind the scenes? When an artist like Taylor Swift goes on tour, there is a huge team of people who make the magic possible, and somebody needs to be in charge so that everything runs smoothly and the fans can have a great time. These people are arts managers.
From booking enormous venues and transporting tonnes of equipment, to negotiating contracts and finances, this workshop will give you a hands-on peek into the world of an arts manager and ask you to make some of the decisions to get a music tour on the road.
The Amazing Body: Always responding to our environment | Tuesday, October 29th (2:30 – 3:15 PM)
Our body is constantly monitoring and reacting to what’s going on around us so we can go about our daily lives. In this workshop, we will discuss how important organ systems work, how we can measure their activity, and how we can protect them from environmental challenges. Learning about biomedicine can open up many career options in health or biomedical sciences, including research, medicine, biomedical engineering, diagnostics, biotechnology, vaccine and drug development, as well as careers in fields like biosafety and regulation, and ethics and law.
Economics: Money, Inflation, and The Cost of Living | Tuesday, October 29th (2:30 – 3:15 PM)

You’ll learn to analyse and interpret data with different methodologies and tools while developing your problem-solving skills that are needed in both business and government to make smarter and informed decisions.
