Exploring the Economic Landscape: Stories of Key Global Economies

Understanding the dynamics of the global economic system is crucial to informed business decisions and long-term success. In a recent Business class, our Year 9 pupils applied their analytical thinking and research skills to make abstract economic concepts come alive through engaging case studies. In groups, they shared diverse perspectives, presented their ideas, and defended them in Q&A sessions.

Our pupils examined Cuba’s Command Economy, which ranked 7th in GDP per capita among 47 Latin American countries in the 1950s.They also brought to the table the world’s most economically free nations, such as Singapore, Hong Kong, Ireland, and the US, learning how these countries became economic powerhouses. Finland’s success as a mixed economy was another highlight, being the happiest economy in the world for seven consecutive years.

Through this engaging lesson, they gained a deeper understanding of how different economic systems function, along with their strengths, weaknesses, and adaptability.

At Brighton College Vietnam, we aim to offer pupils highly practical programmes. Our Business and Enterprise programme equips pupils with essential skills in marketing, finance, operations, and data analysis, all while fostering their curiosity about the world. These skills prepare them for future challenges in an ever-evolving global economy.
