Brighton College Vietnam Welcomes New Headmistress and Board Member

We are delighted to announce two distinguished additions to Brighton College Vietnam’s leadership team Mrs Carly Barber, our new Head, and Mr Martin George, our newest Board Member. Their extensive experience and shared commitment to educational excellence will greatly enhance Brighton College Vietnam’s vision and mission. 

Carly Barber
Mrs Carly Barber – Headmistress

Mrs Carly Barber joins us with over 20 years of experience as an educator, of which 15 years have been a successful school leader. Her career spans various prestigious institutions, including her most recent role as Head of Senior School at Brighton College Bangkok, playing an integral role in its journey to becoming one of the best British International Schools in Asia. Mrs Barber also served in the same capacity at Southlands International School in Rome, Italy, where, under her leadership, the Senior School’s IGCSE and IBDP results improved significantly. She has a proven track record of driving academic excellence, developing leadership structures, and supporting new school growth. Mrs Barber has an impressive academic background in education. She holds a PGCE from the University of Southampton and a Master’s Degree in educational leadership from University College London. In addition, she is currently completing a PhD in Learning and Leadership from UCL’s Institute of Education with her thesis focusing on the opportunities and challenges in the leadership of international schools with multipart boards. She is a frequent conference speaker on aspects of international education. Mrs Barber is deeply committed to creating a safe, supportive, and stimulating learning environment, fostering students’ and colleagues’ aspirations for excellence. We are delighted that she will be leading Brighton College Vietnam.

Mr Martin George – New Board Member
Mr Martin George brings over three decades of distinguished service in the educational sector. He has served as Principal at prestigious schools such as Epsom College, one of the top international schools in Malaysia, and Doha College, Qatar, one of the Middle East’s premier educational institutions and among the 100 very best private schools around the globe. At Chaoyang Kaiwen Academy in Beijing, China, he has served as Head Master and Chairman of the Education Committee of Kaiwen Education Group. Mr George has valuable experience adapting to the rapidly changing educational landscape, including teaching methods and organisational structures. He believes schools that embrace uncertainties as opportunities will achieve success. Mr George’s educational philosophy emphasises moral character, resilience, teamwork, and leadership. His international experience, particularly in rapidly evolving educational landscapes, positions him as a strategic asset to our Board. 
We are confident that the combined expertise of Mrs Barber and Mr George will significantly contribute to our community’s growth and success. Their leadership will ensure that Brighton College Vietnam continues to provide an exceptional educational experience, preparing our pupils for a dynamic and interconnected world.
