Being “Dramatic” Fish in Drama Class

It all began with a quiet tank … until one small splash changed everything. A new arrival drifted in, eyes wide with curiosity, already circling the miniature castle as if it had always belonged to them.

Our Year 7s traded their uniforms for scales this week to perform the play “FISH.”  It was absolute comedy gold(fish) watching them navigate the high-stakes world of aquarium politics. We had Joey, the grumpy solo-dweller who just wanted a flake of food, and Goldie, the high-energy intruder who “plunged in” and immediately started eyeing up the turrets.

The pupils did an incredible job bringing these characters to life, from the sheer panic of thinking a pencil case was a to the horror of being chased by a brother with a drinking straw. It turns out that acting like you’re living in a glass bowl is the perfect way to practice timing, tension, and a very convincing “shocked fish” face. They really proved that life in a tank is anything but boring!
