Our theatre was alive with laughter, applause and dazzling talent as Prep pupils took to the stage for their first-ever Talent Show on Tuesday. From gymnastics and solo vocals to dance, drumming, roller-skating and even a glowing LED finale, the show was a joyful display of creativity and courage.

First place was awarded to a drum performance of Firework, second place to The Burglar – a drama written and directed by Year 4 pupils – and third place to the roller-skating performance.

Reflecting on the event, Ms Roisin Culligan-Hughes, Drama Lead and Teacher of Year 4 shared her delight at seeing the pupils’ joy and confidence on stage. She noted that the event was about more than just showcasing talent – it was also a valuable opportunity for pupils to develop independence, resilience, and strong preparation skills.

“One of the key things is preparation. The pupils really had to be independent and take responsibility for their own learning. They needed to come up with their audition pieces, rehearse on their own, and be ready to progress to the next round. Even over the holidays, they continued preparing with real dedication,” she explained.

One pupil described the experience as incredibly rewarding, saying that opportunities like this help them build confidence, share joyful moments with friends, and create lasting memories.

The performances also greatly delighted the participating parents. One parent shared, “Each performance today had its own unique charm. Some were humorous and endearing, others full of energy, and some were deeply moving. The children truly shone on stage, radiating confidence through their eyes, their movements, and their smiles.”
