Yin & Yang | The Art of Growing Through Difference in IB Visual Arts
Last Saturday, we were honoured to welcome parents, teachers, and distinguished guests to the opening of Yin & Yang, among them Mr Chris McBearty from UNDP, Mr Matt Jackson from UNFPA, and H.E. Kees van Baar, Ambassador of the Netherlands. Art, pride, and conversation filled the room as we celebrated creativity, growth, and the remarkable young people who made this exhibition possible.
Behind every piece on display lies a journey of ideas explored and challenged, of different styles and perspectives met with curiosity and openness. Through that process, our pupils brought to life one of the most important qualities of the IB Learner Profile: the courage to be truly open-minded. Each artwork is not simply a creative achievement, but a reflection of collaboration, critical thinking, and the quiet pride that comes from genuine growth.
“Inquiry takes time and conversation, but it must begin with the individual, with what each pupil is curious about and wants to explore.” That’s how Mr Cooper, our Director of Art, describes the process of accompanying pupils during their creative journey, and last Saturday, you could feel it in the room. Watching our pupils speak about their work with such confidence and depth, and seeing the pride shared by families and staff alike, was something truly special.
