The Echoing Hues of Spring – A Resonance of Reunion
This year’s Tet Assembly at Brighton College Vietnam titled “Đồng vọng sắc xuân” (The Echoing Hues of Spring), serves as a gentle reminder of the beauty of spring, of Tet and of the spirit of reunion and gratitude, values that have long held a meaningful place in Vietnamese culture whenever Lunar New Year returns.

The assembly was designed as an emotional journey, guiding the audience through cultural highlights of Vietnamese Tet across the three regions of the country. From the final full moon of the year closing the old cycle and opening the moment of homecoming, to the vibrant days leading up to Tet with traditions such as the Kitchen Gods’ farewell ceremony, ancestral grave visits and year-end gatherings, all together recreated a rich and meaningful cultural picture.

The colours of spring continued to unfold through regional settings: the white mountain ebony blossoms of the Northwestern highlands, the festive atmosphere of Dong Ho folk paintings in Kinh Bac, the traditional silk-weaving villages near the capital, and the resounding spring festival drums of Central Vietnam, a land known for its resilience and warmth. The journey concluded in the gentle Southern spring, with yellow apricot blossoms, bánh tét and lively floating Tet markets.

The assembly also provided a meaningful space for pupils to express their love for their homeland through the combination of literature, language and performing arts. Performances developed through the Vietnam Cultural Heritage CCA reflected pupils’ creativity, pride and their growing connection to Vietnamese cultural identity.
As the assembly came to a close, the resonance of spring gathered into one shared message: wherever we may be, Tet remains a journey of return to family, to our roots, to gratitude and to hope for a peaceful and prosperous new year.
