Our Senior School Spring Recital 2025 was a breathtaking event of wide-ranging music with stunning performances by our senior pupils. From classical pieces to spirited dance performances, the concert was a great blend that captivated the audience.
The recital opened with a powerful orchestral performance of Palladio, played by Years 7–10 pupils on violin and piano. Pupils then took the stage with an array of solo and ensemble pieces.
Piano selections included Intermezzo Op. 72 by Mendelssohn, The Beautiful Blue Danube, and the energetic He’s a Pirate. On the violin, No. 5 Bolero from Cinq morceaux caractéristiques, Op. 51 mesmerised listeners, while a violin and piano duet of Tango Habanera offered an emotional and rhythmic highlight. Meanwhile dance performances showcased their impressive choreography and expressive movement. Musical theatre performances and choral pieces added to the variety with pupils’ beautiful vocals.
Reflecting on the event, one pupil shared their journey of preparation and performance: “I had been preparing for the orchestra and the choir since 2024. My solo performance was Intermezzo by Mendelssohn. I like that piece because it’s very bouncy, with slight changes in dynamics and volume. I think the most challenging part is keeping your hand very structured, it’s easy to slip and press another note.”
Another pupil performing Never Enough, Defying Gravity and Por una cabeza said: “This isn’t my first time performing on stage, but this experience felt quite different from others because I had a lot of performances this time. It was a mix of nerves and excitement, especially since this concert is considered a big event at our school. I feel really proud of myself and truly enjoyed being on stage.”
The Senior School Spring Recital 2025 not only is a demonstration of remarkable talent of our senior pupils but also showcases their true dedication and passion for arts and music.
