Scholar Programme at Brighton College Vietnam

At Brighton College Vietnam, we have created the Scholar Programme exclusively for our scholars – a dedicated space to support them in developing their talents and to encourage them to make meaningful contributions to the wider community. Being a Scholar is about becoming the very best version of yourself. Our programme is designed to stretch and inspire – encouraging pupils to think deeply, lead with confidence, and collaborate with kindness.
“Our scholars show that academic excellence can sit comfortably alongside creativity, humour, and kindness. They debate, they design, they write, they question. They are the pupils who lean forward in discussions, who try new things, who sometimes fail and then go again – because they care about learning.” – Dr Abigail Connor-Bourne, Scholarship Lead at Brighton College Vietnam
From weekly enrichment sessions to academic competitions, leadership opportunities, and meaningful celebrations, the Scholar Programme offers a wide range of experiences that nurture curiosity and confidence.
Weekly Scholars’ Programme

The weekly Scholars’ Programme introduces pupils to intellectually stimulating and creatively rich topics that inspire deep thinking and a genuine love of learning. This year, scholars have explored storytelling, art, and personal identity, presented their ‘Big Ideas’ through mini elevator pitches, and examined themes such as media reliability, ethics, and global challenges through the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals – connecting knowledge with action and expanding their perspective of the world.
Leadership & Mentoring Opportunities

Within the Scholars’ Programme, pupils are offered opportunities to lead, mentor, and reflect. Scholars take on active roles in their Houses, classrooms, and school events – guiding younger peers, fostering collaboration, and modelling the College’s values of curiosity, confidence, and kindness. Through regular reflection and goal-setting, they learn to recognise their personal growth and lead with empathy, purpose, and integrity.
Scholars’ Lecture

The Scholars’ Lecture is an event held exclusively for scholars at Brighton College Vietnam – a meaningful milestone marking the culmination of their year-long journey in the Scholars’ Programme. After months of exploration, discussion, and idea refinement, the scholars take to the stage with confidence to share talks inspired by their own journeys of learning and discovery. This special occasion celebrates their intellectual curiosity and growth, as they present their ideas to an audience of fellow pupils, teachers, and members of the wider community who share a deep love of learning.
Academic Competitions

Scholars proudly represent the College in renowned academic competitions such as the John Locke Essay Prize and the Mathematical Olympiad, demonstrating academic excellence and intellectual independence. Through these challenges, they develop sharp minds and the confidence to think bravely, reflect deeply, and approach learning with curiosity and determination.
Distinguished Lecture Series

Through the Scholars’ Programme, pupils have the opportunity to meet and engage with distinguished guest speakers – ambassadors, economists, social entrepreneurs, and international scholars. These encounters help scholars connect classroom learning with real-world issues, deepening their understanding of how knowledge can inspire action and positive change on a global scale.
Annual Scholarship Celebration

An annual highlight of the Scholars’ Programme, this event recognises the achievements and growth of our scholarship pupils. It is a joyful occasion where scholars share their learning journeys, present artistic performances, and inspire the entire school community through their creativity, confidence, and love of learning.
