Brighton College Vietnam was honoured to welcome H.E. Kees van Baar, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Vietnam, as the distinguished speaker for the opening lecture of the 2025–26 Lecture Series.

Through captivating stories from his distinguished diplomatic career across continents, the evening inspired pupils to think globally, act with kindness, and lead with confidence—values that lie at the heart of Brighton College Vietnam’s educational philosophy.
- Global Mindset and Curiosity: Curiosity lies at the heart of diplomacy. Understanding diverse perspectives builds empathy and global awareness. Pupils were encouraged to learn languages, explore, and stay informed about world affairs.
- Communication and Empathy: Effective diplomacy relies on empathetic communication – listening, respecting differences, and staying open-minded to build trust across cultures.
- Adaptability and Resilience: Living and working abroad demands flexibility and calm under pressure. Adapting to new environments and learning from challenges are vital traits of a diplomat.
- Integrity and Responsibility: Integrity underpins leadership. Acting with honesty, fairness, and accountability earns trust and respect.
- Lifelong Learning and Confidence: Pupils were encouraged to pursue what inspires them, collaborate confidently, and learn with purpose.
