Our Year 5 and 6 pupils recently set off on an exciting residential trip, where they explored the wonders of nature, built essential life skills, and deepened their understanding of environmental conservation.
From the moment they arrived, they were immersed in the beauty of the natural world. At the Primate and Turtle Rescue Centre, they observed wildlife up close and took part in conservation activities, learning firsthand how to protect endangered species and their habitats. The excitement continued with a night visit to the Carnivore Centre and Bear Sanctuary, where they gained fascinating insights into nocturnal animals and the rehabilitation of rescued wildlife.
The journey also took them back in time as they explored the Cave of the Prehistoric Man, uncovering the connections between geography and early human survival. A botanical garden hike introduced them to the diversity of plant life, while an ecology field study with insect pitfall traps gave them a chance to conduct real-world scientific research, just like budding biologists!
This trip was more than just a few days away from school – it was a transformative experience that deepened pupils’ understanding of wildlife and conservation while fostering teamwork, independence, resilience, and social growth, all essential for protecting our planet.
