Higher Education Programme: Inspired by World-Leading University, UCL
As part of our Higher Education Programme, our BCVN Scholars welcomed a representative from UCL for an engaging session on the opportunities available at one of the world’s leading universities.
Ranked #9 in the world in the QS World University Rankings 2026, UCL also stands #1 in the UK, 2nd in Europe and 3rd globally in the QS World University Rankings for Sustainability 2026. Yet beyond its global reputation, what made the session particularly valuable was the insight it offered into a university culture shaped by research, international collaboration and a strong sense of purpose.
With a special emphasis on the strength of UCL’s international research networks, pupils also learnt more about the University’s remarkable legacy of 29 Nobel Prize winners and the specialist contributions they have made across disciplines. In doing so, they were invited to think not only about where they may study in future, but also about the kind of thinkers, researchers and global citizens they hope to become.
The Higher Education Programme offers pupils a carefully structured, long-term foundation for their university journey, beginning in Year 7 and becoming increasingly personalised and focused in the later years. Through tailored guidance and meaningful opportunities to engage with leading universities and experts from a wide range of fields, the programme enables pupils to understand themselves more deeply, grow in confidence, and make informed choices about their future.
