Exploring Futures: Masterclasses with University of Melbourne Professors

Professors from the University of Melbourne brought the spirit of academic excellence directly to Brighton College Vietnam through a series of engaging masterclasses for pupils from Years 9 to 12.
These sessions opened doors to new ideas, critical thinking, and future possibilities across a wide range of disciplines including engineering, science, economics, and communication.

The programme featured a diverse range of workshops:

  • Bridging the Chasm – Pupils explored structural engineering by building bridges that balanced physics, precision, and creativity.

  • Crisis Comms – A simulated “zombie apocalypse” challenged pupils to communicate effectively, think strategically, and make quick decisions under pressure.

  • Engineering Unfolded – Pupils learned how modern engineering continues to drive innovation and shape the world around us.

  • Amazing Parasites – Exploring the hidden world of parasites and their crucial role in maintaining ecological balance.

  • Think Like an Economist – Developing economic thinking to understand how global systems influence everyday life.

  • Science Innovators – Working collaboratively to solve real-world problems through scientific innovation.

Through these interactive sessions, pupils engaged directly with university professors and lecturers, participated in meaningful discussions, and explored potential academic and career pathways.
The professors’ expertise and enthusiasm inspired pupils to think critically, stay curious, and develop the mindset and skills essential for success in higher education and beyond.
