Adventure, Culture, and Creativity: Year 4’s Journey of Learning and Fun

Our Year 4 pupils recently embarked on an exciting residential trip, where they immersed themselves in nature, developed essential life skills, and explored the rich culture of the Muong people. This hands-on learning experience encouraged curiosity, creativity, and teamwork, making it a truly unforgettable journey.

The adventure began with Nature Colours, where pupils discovered the diverse hues found in the natural world. Using natural materials, they created their paints and produced beautiful works of art, blending creativity with environmental awareness.

In the Cooking Class, pupils stepped into the outdoor kitchen to prepare a traditional local cake. Under the guidance of experienced staff, they practised teamwork and learned valuable cooking skills, all while emphasizing hygiene and safety.

Exploring the essence of village life, pupils took part in Fishing and Gardening. They identified medicinal plants and learned about their uses, before trying their hand at traditional fishing with woven bamboo baskets—a fun and educational experience!

The Countryside Hike & Mindfulness session provided a peaceful escape, as pupils took a gentle trek through the surrounding landscape. They also participated in a nature yoga session, allowing for quiet reflection and a deeper connection with the environment.

As night fell, pupils gathered around a Muong Storytelling campfire, where local villagers shared captivating tales from their culture. The evening continued with a Night Walk, a shared experience that deepened friendships and fostered a sense of community.

This residential trip was more than just an adventure—it was an opportunity for our Year 4 pupils to learn, grow, and create lasting memories. Through hands-on experiences and cultural immersion, they gained a greater appreciation for the world around them and returned with new skills, confidence, and a sense of wonder.
