Art with a Purpose: Confronting Polulltion Through IB Visual Arts
In IB Visual Arts, our pupils are encouraged to use creativity as a way to engage with real-world issues. Year 12 pupil An Le is doing just that through a powerful project exploring the impact of pollution, with a particular focus on contaminants in water and their wider environmental consequences.
Working on a large scale, An Le draws inspiration from the bold visual language of Banksy, combining traditional painting techniques with contemporary approaches. By embedding plastics and other modern materials directly into her artwork, she highlights the lasting presence of human waste in natural environments. Her work not only demonstrates strong technical skill and conceptual thinking, but also invites viewers to pause and reflect on some of the most urgent environmental challenges facing our world today.
