BCVN’s Lecture Series: An Evening of History and Reflection

On 12 May, we were honoured to welcome Mr George, DCEO of Brighton College International, back to Brighton College Vietnam to deliver the final lecture in this year’s Distinguished Lecture Series.

In his thought-provoking lecture “Chaos from Crisis: Hitler and his Henchmen in the Third Reich,” Mr George explored the dysfunctional relationships between key Nazi leaders, challenging the perception of the Third Reich as a highly organised regime. Instead, he demonstrated how chaos, mistrust, weak leadership, and poor decision-making shaped one of the darkest periods in modern history.

Opening the event, Mr Scott, our Humanities Teacher, who has supported the Scholarship Programme throughout this academic year, shared: “It was a real delight to welcome Martin back to Brighton College Vietnam to impart his historical wisdom amongst our community. Martin seamlessly blends high-level thinking with audience participation and vivid storytelling.”

Mr Sannegadu, Head of Sixth Form, also reflected on the impact of the lecture, commenting: “The lecture gave members of our school community exceptional insight into Nazi leadership and its devastating consequences for both Europe and the wider world. I am hopeful that Mr George will return to deliver ‘Chapter 2: The Origins of the Cold War’ on his next visit to the College.”
