Behind the Curtain: Pupils Growing Through Challenge and Creativity
While audiences were captivated by the wonder of Neverland on stage, another story was unfolding quietly behind the curtains. Behind every lighting cue, scene change, costume adjustment and perfectly timed sound effect stood a dedicated backstage team of more than 55 pupils and teachers from Brighton College Vietnam. Together, they worked with remarkable teamwork, creativity and care to bring the production of Peter Pan to life.
Ha An, who played a lead role in Bah Humbug last year and returned this year as a Senior School pupil supporting the Prep School production, shared: “I really enjoyed both being on stage and helping backstage. It was very different, but I was excited to be part of the stage crew for Peter Pan this year. I learnt a lot of new skills about tech and working backstage, and I was happy to help the Prep School pupils in the production.”
More than simply preparing a production, the backstage experience encouraged pupils to collaborate across year groups, communicate under pressure and contribute to something larger than themselves. It was a wonderful example of pupils embracing new challenges with confidence, kindness and a genuine love of learning.
A heartfelt thank you to our incredible backstage crew for the dedication, professionalism and encouragement they brought to Peter Pan. Their work behind the scenes helped shape an unforgettable artistic journey for everyone involved.
