Ms Liz Dinh, a guest speaker at our Senior School Prize Giving, in her inspiring address, encouraged pupils to reflect on the kind of impact they want to make on the world. “You don’t need to have it all figured out to start making a difference,” she said. “Begin with what you care about and let that shape your path.”
Her message centred around the power of intentional action. In a world that often values perfection and competition, Ms Liz, City Manager at VietHarvest, urged pupils to embrace participation, compassion, and courage. “The world needs people who are willing to show up, ask difficult questions, and lift up others,” she shared. “What if success isn’t just about what we achieve, but what we enable in others?”
She challenged pupils to see themselves as bridges, connecting gaps between abundance and need, between potential and opportunity. “You are very powerful, not because of your titles or awards, but because of the choices you will make.”
“Whatever you would like to pursue next, whether it’s business, science or activism, choose it with intention and attention,” she said.
VietHarvest is an innovative and dynamic social enterprise founded in 2020, dedicated to rescuing quality surplus food and redistributing it to underserved communities across Vietnam. Brighton College Vietnam and VietHarvest are also in discussions to jointly implement social impact programs, offering our pupils practical opportunities to engage in meaningful community activities and contribute to positive societal changes.
